Coming Back Slowly

It has been a weird year for me. I've let a couple of projects go to the back burner, but now I hope to get my focus back. Some people have had more patience than others. I'm happy about that. More soon!!

Sublime Rush - Issue 004 is out!

Sublime Rush - Issue 004 is out now. I have three items in it this time around. An interview with Lolita Agogo, an interview with Giorgio Vaselli about the Energy Art Movement, and a little coverage for the AbX: Visual Rhythms show that took place at the end of May. Plus there is a ton of stuff worth checking out.

So Sad

I loved this man's voice! He was awesome.

Peter Steele of Type O Negative is dead at 48!! This makes me so fucking sad.

My favorite TON album is October Rust.
'October Rust' Track 15 (Spoken Word Outro) - "Well, that's about it. I hope it wasn't too disappointing."

I hope it wasn't for you, too, Peter Steele.

Duh, he was totally into Vienna!!

[ooooops!!! I have been away again. Too busy to write]

I think what my title is referring to is The Bachelor. I don't even watch that show, but it and shows like it, are no fucking inane that you can go along and add comments and be "right there" with people. I hate reality television. I never liked reality television. People waste their precious lives watching other people live theirs. But it is not even their lives. It is fragments of an over-the-top version of strangers (or god forbid, someone you know), that has been haggled together into whatever is the vision of the producer. Which, nothing against the producer; they at least make the inane shit mildly entertaining for the masses, so then the masses are placated and held into watching the advertisement. I did not even like the original version of this television formula/model - Real World, which was just a collection of arch types (read Chuck Klosterman's essays on it). But you know what the overarching deal is, with all of the reality-television BS? It is a way for people to have something in common. These reality stars are people's gossip surrogates. The world is still fucking high school and Hollywood is banking on it.

Anyway, no thanks.

So, one of my Scottish friends said that his tartan is made up of star-burst patterns and has "juicy" printed across his ass. I thought that was worth passing along. If I have offended any of my Scottish friends, my apologies. I still think it is funny.

Took my work down down from La Fogata the weekend before last. It is in my entryway waiting to be taken literally across the alley from La Fogata to Union Cafe on Saturday morning. I have a few extra new pieces to add to that show. Working on some big stuff.

All of these lovely shots of La Fogata are courtesy of my iPhone and my little shake it app, inwhich I make digital a tribute to the Polaroid.

Ugh...Mercury In Retrograde

Okay, there are some things that are just so. You cannot talk me out of what I think is their level of influence on my existence here. One of them is Mercury In Retrograde.

It is reeking some havoc on me this time....or else I just want to think it is the cause of my happenings, or not-so-happenings, at the moment.

Photo: I always like to keep the ferns I buy in the spring hanging up through the fall and winter to watch them deteriorate and weather. I took this in October, I think.

OMG .... itza Black Hole!!!!!

Okay, I know it is only the first part of the experiment at CERN, and we will not know if they are creating earth-consuming black holes until October, but this guy has a funny take on people's reactions....

Short North Hit & Run: More to the Story

The other day the news talked about the hit and run that took place in the Short North that left two people in the hospital. Evidently there is a lot more to the story than "two people leaving a bar at night."

The people involved were run over by a man trying to get out of paying his bill at Haiku.

"On Thursday evening, a man left Haiku Restaurant in the Short North without paying his bill. Julie, co-owner, and Rachel, a bartender, followed the man outside to his vehicle. According to police, the man started his vehicle and purposely struck Rachel and Julie as he backed out of his parking spot."

You can read more here.

Also, if you feel like giving some money, please do. One of the people is an artist and the other is the owner. I hate to see Haiku drug down and put out of business because of this.
